A "2009" Note from Rahim:
I was thinking yesterday about this whole musical journey and wondering about my growth. as an artist it is easy to get down when huge things aren't happening. I began thinking about this last year and it's challenges and rewards. I would like to list a few of the highs and lows.I would have to say a live show high was playing the series of shows in Colorado; especially singing She Talks to Moonlight to the belle of the ball, Kathleen Koontz. Playing all those Palace Concert gigs were a blast as well. playing in front of packed houses feel very good. Opening for Alejandro Escovedo was a treat. I held my own and then got to see that genius go to town! making Veritas Wine Room my home away from home was an unexpected move for me. The owner and staff there are true music lovers and made all my shows there feel like I was at The Granada.
I was blessed to have in my life or meet Kimberly LaForge who pokes me with love and reminds me that people care, Allison Edwards who opened the door to Lee Park, Brooks Anderson who created Veritas Wine Room, Salim Nourallah for his continued friendship and support, Chris Mueller who loves my music and blogs like a mad man about it, EAT-A-CD in Scotland for getting my music out to the UK!!, Byron Easterling who is a true friend that I had the pleasure of joining spirits with, Randy Dunn who is a great new guitarist with no head games, Ross Banister who invited me in to reawaken The Palace Theatre, Alan Massey who made me a beat box!! and became a good friend along the way, and rekindling with Brian Hobson, Michelle and Barry Patterson in the Rockies. I know I am blanking out on many people and will add more to this as my mind clouds disperse :)
2 TV shows used my songs!! this is always a good thing and a great way to get music heard nationally. the shows were Roadtrip Nation and Chris and John to the Rescue.
KXT 91.7, KTCU, and KNTU played or play my music! yay--all good to turn on the radio and hear my song.
We raised bucket loads of Family Place essentials at a fund raiser at Veritas Wine Room.
Wrote more songs than I know what to do with.
So, what is next?? Recording those songs to create what I feel is my strongest work. The plan is to record with Rick Nelson in New Orleans and then finish it up at Salim's Pleasantry Lane. It will be an intimate and honest album.
So, please know that your love and support are what keep my engines running. without an audience, I am a lunatic pretty much :)
Here is to a meaningful 2010 for us all.
